Încă puțin din cei 20/ A Bit More of the 20s

Slowly but surely the 20s pass… the 20 years in which I have fully enjoyed in the past 364 days.

Life when you’re 20 is like you’ve never imagined and you like it more and more because of this. My 20th birthday was in a cosy halls of residence where I was visiting Paul a year ago. And I have sung from all my heart „I am 20 and honestly, I’m not well…” (a great Romanian song). But I was well. Very well. Then there was a trip to Ireland, an internship at Kiss FM, a summer’s start when I have rediscovered Bucharest, two months of holiday at home, in Galati, in Vama Veche, at Folk You, for the fifth time, at Resita, reseeing the cool people who have made me love the radio, then an autumn in which I have put my life in a suitcase and I left to conquer the world (I’m still working on that)…

I’ve moved to Lyon – to learn, to find out, to discover, to live, to travel. I have found a lot of different places, some good, some not so outstanding… But I was settled, I have found the quays of the Rhon for myself so as not to miss the Danube too much, and I’ve started to see the world differently. This was to be expected. I have met incredible people, I have seen pieces of the world through my eyes – places that have laid down at my feet colours and new shapes.

I have loved. I have traveled, I have understood, I have been to concerts – a lot of them. I have read, I have made friends, I have talked to strangers, to unknowns, to old friends. I have went to movies, to museums, in restaurants and bistros. I have danced, I have seen the Mediteranean, by day, in February, and in the spring, and from the beach, and from a boat, and from islands. I have started to work at AltRadio. I have made pre-recorded shows. I have gone to Romania, in the winter, for a month. I’ve met with all my dear people. I have decorated the Christmas tree, at home, in Galati. I have loved.

I have taken pictures, and gathered the best of them from the past 5 years in andradatudorie.com. I have held presentations, I have had exams, I’ve started to learn Russian, I have written resumes, I have written cover letters and personal statements. I have made plans. They have fallen apart. I have made other plans. Then I thought I should make other kinds of plans. I have changed my mind, a number of times. I have chosen.

I have gained weight. I have lost weight. I’ve cried, I’ve laughed, I have been furious, frustrated, sad, melancholic, euphoric, cheerful, delighted (sometimes delightful even), confident, joyful, open-minded, happy (most of the time). I have learned how to get to terms with solitude. I have found out that it is nice with the right persons, the same way it is nice on your own. I have written on my blog, on facebook, in my Picasso notebook - a sort of small poems, messages, e-mails, thoughts, questions, answers and wishes. I have opened a Twitter account.

I have bought books, cloths, earings, souvenirs, pens, maps, pancakes. I have smiled a lot. I have traveled many hours by car, bus, tram, train, coach, plane. I have walked for many hous. I have watched people more. I have looked more around. I have felt much more, much more deeply. I have changed, but I have kept everything good and that I liked from my old self…

At 20 I’ve never been happier. I have discovered more than I did at 19 and I am pleased with that. Not limited, not sufficienty, but grateful – for everything I have met and that I have learned, for everything that has left even a small mark on me, for everything that I have lived and that I am living. At 21 I want my horizons to be infinite, to make choices and to rejoyce, but more than anything, I want to be better and to give to the world as many wonders as it is giving me…

Thank you to all the people who have made the age of 20 spectacular, to the people who have been part of this crazy experience and, especially, to those two people who have simply made me.
